Your Life, Your Way!

We exist to work with people with disAbilities. The family values that inspired early beginnings remain the bedrock for all we do and aspire to be.

Interchange Shoalhaven embraces the changing world of NDIS and provides a wide range of support to participants in our community in a flexible, responsive and accountable manner. We are a not for profit, non government, community based organisation.

We are committed to the delivery of quality services in an open and transparent support environment. We give people space to express their opinions in a safe and respectful environment, and encourage learning and development. We openly encourage new ideas and innovation in the workplace and actively encourage this in our practises.

We respect all people from all walks of life and cultures and will work with individuals to develop meaningful support. We are respectful in our communications with or about our colleagues, customers and suppliers.

We work closely with individuals to match their support to the goals they wish to achieve. We work in an innovative, flexible environment and love to trial new ways of working.

You can count on us to deliver what we set out to achieve and be assured that our staff will support you. You can rely on the support of your fellow staff and the team.

We will communicate with people how we are working together to achieve their goals. We are responsive to the changing needs of the environment we work in and embrace this change positively.

We believe everyone has a choice, and we choose to work as an employer and provider of choice for people here in the Shoalhaven.

The Interchange Shoalhaven Story

Interchange Shoalhaven has been providing support to people in our community for over 25 years.

In 1981 a group of families set up formal support for young persons with disability across Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Wingecarribee districts.
The Shoalhaven chapter incorporated to become a separate entity and cater directly to local needs during 1993.

Fast forward to the current day.

Interchange Shoalhaven has restructured to ensure the right of each person to access options and apply choice, is central to the delivery of our service.

Who do we support?

The service we provide is for people with a mild to moderate disability living within the Shoalhaven region.

We at Interchange Shoalhaven:

  • Emphasise choice and flexibility
  • Conduct Individual needs assessments
  • Customise our services to meet your needs
  • Determine support needs and our capacity to effectively service that support.

What is our Self Organising Approach?

Self Organising Teams
We facilitate a self organising approach to create a flexible work environment where the participant sets the goals and has the support of their own stable team to achieve them.

  • Each team is made up of 3-4 Support Workers with a Team Coach (from our Client Services Team) to oversee all activity.
  • The team takes the heavy lifting out of doing everything on your own, but you stay in control.
  • You can elect to self schedule or have your team schedule shifts for you
  • The team carries out responsibilities using an adaptable, values-based, person-centred approach.

Collectively, we deal with everything behind the scenes so you have the tools to do things your way with the right people and resources by your side.

Team Support

Self Scheduling Participant / Nominee

Some participants/nominees prefer to do their own scheduling and communicate this information to their team. It’s your choice.

We have the resources, technology and training to readily support that choice. A short training session to show you how to use our technology and systems, then you are on your way. You always have help and access to the team should you need.

Compliments & Complaints

Interchange Shoalhaven is committed to ensuring each participant has access to fair and equitable procedures for dealing with complaints and disputes, and they will be dealt with promptly.

Interchange Shoalhaven welcomes all feedback, including complaints and compliments and any complaint received will not harm the ability for a participant to receive future services. Feedback is critical in ensuring that the organisation can effectively review and develop its services.
